Switchyard Northeast Corridor started with a love of trains and a simple question: what would you change about New York’s subway?
THE INSPIRATION
I loved playing JP Wright’s NYC subway-building game. That feeling of drawing a new connection and imagining a different city inspired me to build Switchyard Northeast Corridor: my own expanding transit sandbox, made by a fellow train lover.
This is an independent, unofficial project. I’m not affiliated with JP Wright or the original game, and the credit for that inspiration belongs to its creator.
YOUR VERSION OF THE NORTHEAST
Add stations, reshape lines, try a long-awaited connection, or build something completely your own. Explore beyond the five boroughs into nearby New Jersey, western Long Island, and Yonkers, and watch the game’s ridership, coverage, and ratings respond.
The numbers are gameplay simulations, not real transit forecasts. This is a place to experiment and have fun.
WHAT COMES NEXT
Switchyard Northeast Corridor is an early public beta by Toek Software Design. I’m hoping to bring it to an app, add new modes, and make more fun NYC subway-related projects.

Boston transit data provided by MassDOT / MBTA under its developer license. Adapted representative GTFS routes, not current schedules or an official map. No affiliation with or endorsement by MBTA, MassDOT, Massport, Amtrak, the City of Boston or any transit agency. Boston land outlines: U.S. Census 2025 cartographic boundaries.
Interactive maps use Leaflet, with regional geography from Census-derived boundary data. The starter subway network uses MTA public GTFS data; population estimates use NYC DCP and U.S. Census data adapted for gameplay.
